The UK Contributes 2.26 Billion Pounds Loan to Ukraine for Air Defense and Artillery

The UK has committed £2.26 billion to Ukraine as part of the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) Loans scheme. This initiative will provide $50 billion from G7 countries to support Ukraine’s military, budget, and reconstruction needs. The loans will be repaid through profits generated from immobilized russian sovereign assets.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves, accompanied by Defense Secretary John Healey, announced the contribution during a visit to Ukrainian personnel undergoing training in the UK.

The UK’s financial contribution is intended to bolster Ukraine’s military budget, enabling investments in crucial equipment such as air defense systems and artillery. This comes on top of the UK’s existing £3 billion annual military aid for Ukraine, reaffirmed by the Prime Minister.
