The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła, met with the Chief of Defence of Sweden, General Michael Claesson. During the official visit, Polish-Swedish military cooperation was discussed.
In recent weeks, we have been observing an intensification of Polish-Swedish relations. In mid-January, a Polish delegation headed by the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz was present in the Swedish city of Berga, where the issues of cooperation on the Baltic Sentry initiative or cooperation in the context of assistance to Ukraine were discussed. Importantly, representatives of Polish defense companies were also present during the visit.
A few days later, the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, Paweł Bejda, met with the deputy minister of national defense of the Kingdom of Sweden, Peter Sandwall. One of the topics discussed was the Orka program. Also in January, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła, spoke with the Chief of Defence of Sweden, General Michael Claesson, during the NATO Military Committee.

This time, the meeting between General Kukuła and General Claesson took place in Warsaw. According to the profile of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces on platform X, the generals’ talks were to concern bilateral military cooperation in the field of the Navy, Air Force and Land Forces, as well as partnership in the area of critical infrastructure protection in the Baltic Sea.
Lecture on the security of the Baltic Sea
On Wednesday, March 5, General Claesson gave a lecture at the War Studies Academy, during which he presented the Swedish point of view on security in the Baltic Sea region, as well as assistance in supporting Ukraine’s defense efforts.
