Despite three separate land routes to Crimea, Ukrainian Armed Forces’ liberation of Crimea will also involve the seas, said Izet Gdanov, the deputy commander of one of the separate assault battalions.
“There are three land routes to Crimea — Kalanchak, Chongar, Chaplynka,” Gdanov told Crimea.Realities. “On the one hand, this is relatively convenient for the occupiers to set up their defenses, as the area is not very wide. On the other, they face certain difficulties with supplying Crimea because logistically Crimea is very challenging for the occupiers.”
“The approach to Crimea will not only be via the ‘land corridor’, but from the seas as well,” said Gdanov. “The Black and Azov Seas will be used for Crimea’s liberation. That is, the defense forces will enter Crimea simultaneously.”
The peninsula’s terrain complicates military maneuvers in Crimea. The occupiers are also heavily mining the area, and each minefield is unique, Gdanov added.
“They approach this with enthusiasm…,” he said. “They bury themselves deep and pour everything with concrete, so it’s impossible to even identify them with thermal imagery.”
“The occupation of Ukrainian territory started with Crimea and will end with Crimea,” said Gdanov. His battalion is currently being formed in southern Ukraine, focusing specifically on the Crimean direction.
“Russian occupiers are panicking and digging trenches along virtually the entire coastline of the Crimean Peninsula, as proven in satellite images,” Tamila Tasheva, Zelenskyy’s Representative in Crimea told Radio NV.
