Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued threats against Finland over the country’s NATO membership. On the Moscow. Kremlin. Putin program, he claimed that Russia will deploy troops to the Finnish border.
“They dragged Finland into NATO. Did we have any disputes? All disputes, including territorial ones, were resolved long ago in the mid-20th century. The relations were the kindest and most serious,” said the dictator.
However, Putin did not refrain from threatening Finland with military action.
“There were no problems, and now there will be. Because we will create the Leningrad Military District and concentrate certain military units there. Why do they need this? Nonsense,” he stated.
At the same time, the Russian President assured that he does not want a conflict with NATO. He claimed that NATO countries themselves create the conflict and desire a “strategic defeat” for Russia.
“With whom did we have any problems? No one. NATO countries create problems with us because they do not want such a competitor as Russia,” added Putin.
Recall that in April 2023, Finland officially became the 31st member of NATO. Sweden also plans to join the Alliance, but its membership is currently blocked by Turkey.
