Volyn smugglers made a technological breakthrough. They used UAVs not only to send cigarettes abroad, but also to monitor the actions of border outfits. The interdepartmental group, which included military personnel of the Volyn and Lviv border detachments, with the forceful support of border guards-special agents of the DOZOR, found a motorized hang-glider, 8 unmanned aerial vehicles of the type “Airplane” and “Quadrocopter”, as well as more than 2,000 packs of counterfeit tobacco products and draft records with evidence of illegal activity. In addition, an entire workshop for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles was found, including a line of 3D printers that printed parts for drones. The seized UAVs are planned to be handed over to the DPSU units performing tasks as part of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The possibility of using the skills of persons involved in illegal activities in countering enemy troops is being studied.
