The Ukrainian Armed Forces have received the first batch of new unmanned aerial vehicles AQ 400 Scythe. These UAVs are capable of carrying out strikes hundreds of kilometers deep into Russia, reports Defence Blog.
Terminal Autonomy, formerly known as the startup One Way Aerospace, has announced the successful completion of procurements aimed at supporting the combat deployment of the AQ 400 Scythe system in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The AQ 400 Scythe is a long-range unmanned aerial vehicle with a range of up to 750 km, designed for takeoff from short runways or catapults.
The vehicle is capable of carrying a payload of up to 32 kilograms, which can be increased to 70 kg by reducing the flight range. It stands out among its competitors for its quick assembly, mass production capabilities, and economic efficiency, making it a key type of weaponry in modern warfare. The cost of the drone starts at $15,000.
Terminal Autonomy has strategically organized the production of kamikaze drones through a network of smaller enterprises and engineering firms with experience in manufacturing similar platforms. Although the company procures certain components outside Ukraine, primarily in Germany and the United Kingdom, the project’s priority is to maximize the localization of production within Ukraine.
In the initial stage, the company plans to produce 100 units of drones per month. Gradually, this figure is expected to increase to 500 units.
With the production of hundreds of drones per month, these specifications allow for regular strikes on objects within the territory of the Russian Federation.
