belarus Adopts New Military Doctrine, Allowing for the First-Time Use of Nuclear Weapons
“We clearly communicate belarus’ stance on the use of tactical nuclear weapons stationed on our territory,” stated Khrenin during a meeting of belarus’ Security Council, as reported by AP.
“A new chapter has emerged, wherein we distinctly outline our allied commitments to our partners,” belarusian Defense Minister said.

It should be noted that the connection between the new doctrine and russian weaponry remains unclear.
Security Council Secretary Alexander Volfovich stated that the deployment of russian nuclear weapons in belarus aims to deter “aggression” from Poland, a NATO member.
Unfortunately, statements by our neighbors, in particular Poland … forced us to strengthen” the military doctrine, he said.
A reminder that on May 25, the defense ministers of russia and belarus signed documents on the placement of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of belarus. On the same day, Aleksander Lukashenko of belarus announced that russian nuclear weapons were already being delivered to his country.
On June 16, russian president vladimir putin announced that “the first nuclear warheads have been delivered to the territory of belarus.”
Later, Alexander Lukashenko announced that russia had completed deliveries of tactical nuclear weapons to his country in October 2023.
