War Criminal Dmitriy Golenkov, Involved in Kremenchuk Shopping Mall Attack, Found Dead in Bryansk
On the morning of October 20, 2024, the body of Dmitriy Golenkov, former russian military officer implicated in war crimes, was found in an apple orchard in the village of Suponevo, near Bryansk, russia. Dmitriy Golenkov had served as a pilot and chief of staff in the 52nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment, part of the russian Aerospace Forces, stationed at the Shaykovka airfield, and operated the Tu-22M3 bombers.
Dmitriy Golenkov played a key role in missile strikes targeting Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Notably, he was involved in the June 27, 2022 attack on Amstor shopping mall in Kremenchuk, Poltava region. The strike, which occurred while around 1,000 civilians were inside the mall, resulted in 22 deaths and dozens of injuries. He was also responsible for the deadly missile strike on a residential building in Dnipro on January 14, 2023, which killed 46 civilians, including six children.
Dmitriy Golenkov’s body was found with multiple head injuries, suggesting he was killed by blunt force, possibly with a hammer. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
