russia’s Boom Barriers Meant to Protect Crimean Bridge Are Floating Near Kerch
According to a correspondent from the Radio Svoboda, fragments of the boom barriers are drifting in the area of the Kerch city promenade.
Some sections of the boom barriers have been washed ashore by the sea currents in the central area of Kerch.
In the summer of 2024, russia deployed barges near the Crimean Bridge in an effort to reinforce its defenses. Recent satellite images reveal an increase in the number of barges stationed around the bridge.
The Crimean Bridge provides the main traffic route to the occupied Crimea from russian territory and is also used for military supplies to the Crimean Peninsula.
As previously reported, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, partisans have documented the transport of S-300 missiles to air defense systems. This concerns a complex located near the Crimean Bridge.
Currently, the aggressor country is trying to maximize the protection of the Crimean Bridge, despite the fact that the naval component for its defense is now virtually nonexistent, informed Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk in response to questions regarding the Crimean Bridge.
He stated, “They actually need to replenish their stocks because these complexes do not remain idle in Crimea. The russians have really brought a fairly large number of air defense systems there, large air defense, as they call it. And they are doing it for a reason. They need missiles; it’s not a coincidence.”
