Nammo Increases Ammunition Production 10 Times to Meet Ukraine’s Needs
The Norwegian government announced that it will additionally finance Nammo aerospace and defense company that will open a new production line.
One billion kroner, or about $94 million, has been allocated for this task. At the same time, Nammo has committed to maintaining the new production capabilities for at least 15 years.
It is noted that the new production line will increase the manufacturing of the most modern artillery shells by 10 times, as swell as will also double the production capacity of other artillery ammunition and rocket engines.
The Norwegian government noted that its opening was directly related to Ukraine’s needs. It was also clarified that this line will increase the production of 155-mm artillery and 120-mm tank ammunition, as well as engines for AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles.
It is not reported what exactly will be produced on the new line. But it seems that it is not about final production, but about gunpowder. It is necessary not only for ammunition production, but also for solid-propellant rocket.
It is also known when this new production line is to start operating. In any case, it will be no later than the end of 2026. However, the Norwegian government emphasized that the goal is to launch it earlier.
