Norway has little time to build up defense production to be able to resist Russian aggression. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Norway, General Eirik Kristoffersen, informed the NTB agency about this interview.
The Commander-in-Chief of Norway noted that currently “there are one, two, maybe three years, during which it is necessary to invest even more in reliable defense.”
“We are running out of time. I just want to emphasize this. We don’t know what will happen in three years. It is important for us to meet an uncertain and unpredictable world with a strong national defense.” Kristoffersen said.
He also noted that Russia built up its military capabilities “much faster than expected” and began cooperating with Iran and North Korea.
The Norwegian commander-in-chief called the combination of defense potential building and aid to Ukraine a “calculated risk.”
“If the danger of attack was imminent for Norway right now, we would not be able to provide so many weapons. But that’s not the case.” – he explained.
We will remind, the other day the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaia Kallas called on NATO to prepare for war with Russia in three years.
