On the night of January 8, 2024, Ukraine suffered a significant assault from the enemy, employing a range of air attack tactics including cruise, aviation, ballistic, anti-aircraft guided missiles and UAVs.

A total of 59 enemy air attack assets were identified:

  • 8 Shahed-136/131 type UAVs from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk region, russia;
  • 7 S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Belgorod region, russia;
  • 4 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles launched from 4 MiG-31K aircraft (launch area: Ryazan, Tambov, russia);
  • 24 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles from 11 strategic Tu-95MS bombers (launch areas: Engels, russia);
  • 8 Kh-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 bombers from the Belgorod region, russia;
  • 6 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Dzhankoy and Chauda regions in Crimea, Ukraine;
  • 2 Kh-31P guided aviation missiles from tactical aircraft (launch area: Belgorod region, russia).

Critical infrastructure, civilian and military targets were attacked, and the relevant authorities will provide updates on the aftermath and casualties.

This time, the enemy targeted various regions of Ukraine, with ballistic missiles directed at the Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Khmelnytskyi regions.

Ultimately, the defenders in the sky successfully neutralized:

  • 8 Shahed-136/131 UAVs;
  • 18 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles.
