russia Transferred 250 Vehicles and Systems from the Easternmost Base on Sakhalin Island

Russian media have reported that since the start of the full-scale war, over 250 armored vehicles and systems have been transported from the base located 6,000 kilometers from Ukraine. More than 40% of the vehicles were moved from the Dachnoye base near Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Sakhalin Island, which is the easternmost storage facility. Russian media confirmed these findings, providing satellite imagery as evidence. The vehicles were transported using either air or sea routes.

As of 2020, the Dachnoye base housed 593 armored vehicles in open storage, but, by May 2024, this number had dropped to 342, reflecting a 43% reduction. Additionally, the base had nine hangars before the full-scale invasion, but, by 2024, only five remained, with the others destroyed. It is believed that these hangars also contained military equipment, though the quantity remains unclear.
