russia Wants to Increase KABs Range to 150 km by Installing Rocket Boosters

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko stated this on his Telegram channel. He also urged the partners of Ukraine not to delay a decision on authorizing long-range weapons strikes deep inside russia.

“The enemy is constantly working to increase the range of the KABs,” reported Kovalenko.

He also stated that it is critical to destroy the infrastructure that allows russian aircraft to carry out attacks on Sumy, Kharkiv, as well as on Zaporizhzhia and in the east of the country.

“The decision to strike deep into russia with Western weapons must be made if there are no other ways to stop russian defense industry from producing missiles and KABs,” Kovalenko noted.

Military and political observer of the Information Resistance group Oleksandr Kovalenko said on the air of the national telethon that russians are developing unified gliding and correction module (UMPK) for guided bombs that can increase their flight range.

“The first such modules allowed FAB-250 and FAB-500 bombs to cover the distance of up to 30 kilometers. They were used in Bakhmut in 2022. But russians have improved aerodynamic performance. Now FAB-250 and FAB-500 bombs can cover the distance of 80 kilometers. Further development and improvement could allow russians to strike at a distance of up to 100 kilometers or more,” Kovalenko explained.

He noted that the greatest danger would arise if russians succeeded in integrating a rocket booster into an aerial bomb. They will then be able to attack targets up to 150 kilometers.

“We had experience with French Hammer bombs, or JDAMs. Hammer has a rocket booster in some modifications. So russians are also trying to adapt appropriate boosters to their bombs, which will increase the range. And this is a threat even to far rear cities, such as Poltava and Odesa,” Kovalenko noted.

He also added that tens of thousands of Soviet-era bombs are stored in russian warehouses, but russia continues to produce them now.

Earlier War Ukraine-Russia News Hub reported that new russian unmanned aerial vehicles had been set to replace the Orlan-10 and Orlan-30 drones.
