The United States and the United Kingdom are launching airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen
It seems that the Houthis have bent the stick with their attacks and threats towards the USA, Israel and other countries. Explosions took place in the Yemeni city of Hodeida on the night of Friday, January 12. After that, the local mass media also reported on powerful explosions in the capital of Yemen – the city of Sana’a, as well as in a number of other cities.
The Reuters agency, citing American officials, reports that the United States and Great Britain have begun to strike Houthi targets in Yemen.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon officially confirmed the strikes on Yemen:
“We attacked about 10 Houthi targets in Yemen. Drone production centers and weapons warehouses were hit,” the Pentagon representative said.
According to Al Arabia, 10 facilities used for storing weapons and training the Houthis were attacked in Yemen. It is also reported on the operation of the Houthi air defense systems. Among other things, the Sana airport was hit.
Also, social networks and mass media have appeared photos, allegedly from Yemen, with the possible consequences of the attack.
The attacks were caused by Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea. They came in response to ignoring demands to stop attacks on ships passing through the Red Sea. Since the start of the Gaza war, groups have attacked ships and launched rocket attacks on Israeli cities. The military operation is directed against the Houthis of Yemen and is called “Guardian of Prosperity”. Before the attack, the UN Security Council passed a resolution condemning US attacks on ships in the Red Sea, giving the West a legal basis for strikes against the Houthis.
It will be recalled that on January 8, there were explosions in the port of Iran, as a result of which ships transporting weapons for the Houthis from Yemen were destroyed. This was reported by the AteoBreaking Telegram channel.
The detonation occurred on all 16 ships loaded with a huge amount of weapons and ammunition.
As you know, the Yemeni Houthis support the Palestinians in the war against Israel. It will be recalled that the Houthis warned all international shipping companies against cooperation with Israeli ports and warned that they would attack all ships heading there.
It will be recalled that on December 12, the Norwegian ship Strinda was hit by a missile in the Red Sea near Yemen. A fire broke out on the ship. The attack on the tanker took place 111 kilometers north of the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, which connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, the US official said.
The Yemeni Houthis claimed responsibility for the missile attack on the Norwegian tanker Strinda. This was stated by the military representative of the Houthis, Yahya Sari, in the social network X. The vessel loaded with oil was headed towards Israel, Sari claims.
He added that the Houthis had “managed to prevent the passage of several ships” in recent days, and said they would continue to do so for all ships bound for Israeli ports but not carrying food and medicine for the Gaza Strip.
