Ukraine’s SOF Disclosed Details of the Citadel Special Operation Against russian Occupiers in the Black Sea
The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine have published a video, showing how operators of the 73rd Naval Center conducted the Citadel special operation in the Black Sea near the temporarily occupied Crimea. The goal was to deprive russian occupiers of a number of intelligence capabilities as well as ensure safer movement of ships.
The operation was really complicated. The Special Operations Forces worked in the area where russian aviation and navy are constantly patrolling. But despite the complexity of the task, Ukrainian warriors reached one of the platforms, conducted clearing operation as well as mined the facility. It was one of the oil production platforms illegally seized by russians in 2014. The Special Operations Forces blew the platform up after they left it. They also managed to capture invaders` equipment.

According to the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian occupation army used one of the platforms to increase the range of Iranian Mohajer-6 strike and reconnaissance UAV. Occupiers used it to detect targets for the Shahed-type kamikaze drones.
A Neva-B radar station was also on the platform. It is designed to detect various surface objects. Invaders used it to control situation in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
It is worth noting that this is not the first operation. In 2023, Ukrainian warriors managed to capture a radar from under the russians’ noses.
