One of the Russian missiles was destroyed by the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a Browning machine gun.
A video of the destruction was published online.
In general, mobile fire groups managed to shoot down several cruise missiles in the Northern operational zone. Commander Serhii Naev reported this.
The large-caliber 12.7 mm machine gun that shot down the ZSU missile was developed by gunsmith John Browning. The actual production of the weapon was completed in 1933. The versatility of the machine gun made it the most popular weapon in its class. During the Second World War, P-51 Mustang fighters and B-17 “flying fortresses” were armed with it, mounted on M4 Sherman tanks, and used by infantrymen from machine tools and as anti-aircraft weapons.
The only modernization of the machine gun in the USA took place in 2010. In the M2A1 version, the barrel of the machine gun was slightly modernized in order to speed up its replacement, a fuse was added and a flame arrestor was installed.
Structurally, the M2 Browning remains a large-caliber machine gun with automatics based on the recoil of the barrel with a short stroke and shutter engagement with the help of a movable locking wedge in the vertical plane.
We will remind you that the Russians launched cruise missiles in the direction of Ukraine. There were launches from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea region.
The Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klychko reported that a building and a car caught fire in the Svyatoshyn district of the capital. In the Pechersk district, a non-residential building was hit. Emergency services are on their way to the scene.
