British and US forces hit Houthi missile sites in Yemen with a second wave of joint airstrikes aimed at ‘dealing another blow’ to the Iran-backed group as it continues to terrorise ships in the Red Sea. The US deployed FA-18 Super Hornets from an aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, along with Tomahawk missiles fired from submarines and warships. Britain used Royal Air Force Typhoon jets, which flew in from Cyprus, to carry out precision strikes against Houthi military targets. The four Typhoons were supported by a pair of Voyager tankers, which would have carried out two mid-air refuelling stops to make the journey possible. The strikes came after the Iran-backed Houthis refused to stop missile attacks on commercial shipping through the Red Sea, disrupting vital international trade routes.
