Later this month, the government may decide to move the money from the national reconstruction plan for defense. PLN 30 billion is involved.

The government’s decision to move money from KPO to defense programs and security will be made within two weeks – announced on Tuesday the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska -Nałęcz. She added that these funds are to be available this year.

Last week, Minister Pełczyńska-Nałęcz reported that it is possible to create a new security and defense fund for PLN 30 billion. The funds are to come from the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO), from a point on green city transformation. For the fund to be created, you need, among others Decision of the Council of Ministers. Last week, Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized that it was necessary to radically accelerate work on this project.

As the head of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy mentioned, two steps are needed to implement this plan. The first is the decision of the Council of Ministers, which – as the minister says – will take place in the next two weeks. Later, there will have to be a statutory change, which “will anchor the fund”.

What would the described means be allocated to? According to earlier declarations, Minister Pełczyńska-Nałęcz Fund is to be used, among others by local governments that would receive support for double application investments (roads, shelters, ect.). Money can also go to Polish arms companies (including defense research, equipment production).

Earlier, the minister reported that local governments would benefit from the fund that would receive support for double applications, i.e. roads and shelters. Investments are also to include defense research and production of Polish arms companies.

Last week, Prime Minister Donald Tusk pointed out that a shift to PLN 30 billion from KPO to defense expenses and the arms industry will require urgent cooperation between ministries.
