The German startup Helsing AI, which specializes in artificial intelligence in the field of defense, will be responsible for improving the accuracy of the CAESAR artillery system. This became known after the announcement of the production of 78 CAESAR artillery systems for Ukraine. The editorial office of Army Recognition writes, referring to the statement of the Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Sébastien Lecornu.
Helsing is currently working closely with European governments. The company provides AI-enabled electronic warfare for the Eurofighter and the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) program.
Using its experience in using AI, the company could also contribute to increasing the accuracy of CAESAR artillery systems. Their AI platform can provide better analysis of targeting data and environmental conditions, increasing the effectiveness of fire.
“By integrating AI into systems like CAESAR, it is possible to significantly increase the ability of these systems to perform accurate and effective fire. However, the specific details of Helsing’s participation in the modernization of CAESAR are not disclosed in the researched sources. – the message says.
A distinctive feature of the CAESAR is its 155 mm gun, which has an excellent firing range, capable of launching projectiles between 4.5 and 40 kilometers. The gun system includes a hydraulic lifting mechanism and manual control in case of hydraulic system failure.
The design of the artillery installation allows the chassis of different trucks to be adapted to specific needs, which further increases the operational versatility of the CAESAR self-propelled guns.
It is more likely that CAESAR artillery systems equipped with artificial intelligence will be tested in Ukraine. It is about 78 self-propelled guns that are planned to be produced for the Defense Forces.
