At the same time, he added that cruise missile carriers are among the high-priority targets. There is a dozen of ships in the Azov and Black Sea area, including four submarines. According to the spokesman, dock landing ships are no less important targets for Ukrainian militaries. They could participate in hostilities against Ukraine just like the rest of combat units.

Pletenchuk noted that, the main units used by russia to launch strikes on the territory of Ukraine are cruise missile carriers as of now.

“Cruise missile carriers are the biggest threat. This is a weapon of remote actual action. They can be used from various parts of the Black Sea, as well as kept at quite far distance, as much as possible in the sea, in order to provide their safety. As of now, these ships are the biggest threat to Ukraine,” emphasized the Navy spokesman.

He added that it was cruise missile carriers that the russian invaders had primarily redeployed from Crimea to Novorossiysk and other locations.

The rest of the ships, that, for example, have anti-ship systems or landing craft are not actually used in combat actions. They carry out different tasks,” the spokesman explained.

According to Dmytro Pletenchuk, russia also has ships that can conduct reconnaissance, minesweepers, and so on. They perform routine combat tasks nearby the coast of occupied Crimea, as well as near russian shores.
