russia Still Keeps Its Helicopters at a “Secret” Recreation Base in Temporarily Occupied Crimea

This is emphasized by the Ukrainian reserve officer and OSINT analyst Tatarigami_UA.

Reminder that at the beginning of December, it was reported that the russians were hiding their helicopters literally on the beach in Crimea, creating a kind of “secret” airbase. Satellite images testified to this — the occupiers relocated their aviation there from the Chaplynka airfield.

This airbase the occupiers began building in the fall of 2022; it houses 20 helicopter pads. These included helicopters like Mi-8, Mi-24, Ka-52, and possibly Mi-28. In particular, in the image dated May 20, 2023, on the “airbase,” one can observe 10 machines.

“Analysis over multiple days indicates that russians keep no more than 3-4 helicopters at a time. Additionally, the helicopters appear to be more dispersed,” the author of the post points out.

Reminding that the Armed Forces of Ukraine already have experience in destroying enemy helicopters on airbases in temporarily occupied territories using one of the most suitable weapons for this purpose – ATACMS missiles with cassette warheads, which, however, were supplied to Ukraine in limited quantities.
