russian Forces Persist in Appropriating Property from Inhabitants of Temporarily Occupied Regions
Reports indicate that representatives of the occupying authorities, in conjunction with military personnel, persist in conducting raids on settlements under their control to identify unoccupied residences, National Resistance Center of Ukraine reports. Dwellings left vacant by locals for extended periods are earmarked for “nationalization” without any prior notification to the rightful owners. Disturbingly, this process disregards whether individuals have relocated to areas under Kyiv’s jurisdiction, abroad or even within the russian federation.
There have been documented instances of property confiscation targeting residents holding russian passports. Subsequently, these seized properties are offered to russian military personnel or officials of the occupying administrations who are willing to establish residency in the temporarily held territories of Ukraine. This reprehensible practice constitutes a perpetuation of russia’s genocidal efforts to alter the ethnic demographics within Ukrainian territory.
