The Israeli army then reported attacking Hezbollah targets in the south of the country.
“In response to this morning’s rocket fire (aimed) at Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the Israel Defense Forces to take strong action against dozens of terrorist targets in Lebanon” – the head of the Israeli government said in a statement. After issuing this statement, the army reported attacking Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
According to Lebanese state television, as a result of Israeli shelling of the town of Touline in the south of the country, one person was killed and three were injured.
The United Nations peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) in Lebanon warned that the escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli border could have “serious consequences for the region.”
Earlier in the day, the Israeli army said it had intercepted several missiles fired from Lebanon in the country’s airspace. It was emphasized that the attack was carried out despite the ceasefire in force in the conflict with the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah.
So far, no one has admitted to carrying out strikes on Israel. The Israeli defense minister said that the Lebanese government is responsible for any missiles fired from its territory.
In turn, Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned against the resumption of military operations.
In the early afternoon, the Lebanese armed forces reported the location and destruction of three makeshift rocket launchers that were used during the morning attack on Israel.
