Recently, soldiers of the Commando Military Unit in Lubliniec have undergone training, m.in. in landing and operating in difficult terrain.
“Candidates for service in combat teams as part of the “base camp” have undergone intensive training, improving the key skills necessary in combat operations. Part of the training program included landing, evacuation to confined spaces such as roofs or rocks, the use of advanced rope techniques in difficult terrain and special operations. The exercises were conducted in realistic conditions, shaping precision, speed of action and team cooperation. Thanks to such training, the commandos from JWK maintain the highest level of readiness to carry out the most demanding missions” – informed the official website of the Polish Army.
JWK is the oldest unit of “special forces” in Poland. Its origin dates back to 1957, when a reconnaissance company stationed in the barracks of the 16th Assault and Reconnaissance Battalion was established in Krakow. In 1986, the unit was moved to Lubliniec. It refers to the tradition of the 1.
Polish Independent Special Battalion, Home Army Battalions “Parasol”, “Zośka” and “Miotła” and the Independent Company “Commando”.
In 1993, the unit was named 1. Special Regiment. It was created on the basis of the 1. Assault Battalion. Two years later, the unit was given a distinctive name – 1. Special Commando Regiment.
