Professor Garan from the Kiev-Mohyla Academy awarded with the Medal of the British Empire.
On March 5, 2024, British Ambassador Martin Harris presented Alexei Garan, professor of political science at the National University of Kiev-Mohyla Academy, scientific director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, with a British state award – the British Empire Medal (BEM) on behalf of His Majesty King Charles III for contribution to the development of the Ukrainian-British partnership, War Ukraine-Russia News Hub reports.
“Professor of the Kiev-Mohyla Academy Alexey Garan is a champion of the democratic system in Ukraine, contributing to the development of a new generation of democratic leaders, politicians and public activists. His work and the contribution of other public opinion leaders, I would especially like to note Irina Bekeshkina, who has done a lot for the development of civil society and the development of democratic Ukraine, are very important for the development of relations between the United Kingdom and Ukraine. And it was in recognition of these valuable services that His Majesty the King awarded Alexey Garan the British Empire Medal of Honor,” Martin Garrison emphasized, presenting the award to the laureate.
Alexey Garan, in turn, thanked the British embassy and the entire government of the country for the assistance provided by Great Britain to Ukraine during these tragic days of Russian aggression. He also noted that this award is in many ways a recognition of the systematic work of the entire Deministrative team to strengthen the strategic partnership between Great Britain and Ukraine in recent years and especially during the war.
The scientist expressed special gratitude to the executive director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, Peter Burkovsky, without whom, according to him, this analytical work would have been impossible.
“Currently, Petro Burkovsky is in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, so the “Deminitiats” are working today on different fronts,” emphasized Aleksey Garan.
