The suspension of Ukraine’s support by the USA requires Europe to increase their defense capabilities – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He noted that “contrary to all circumstances” you need to take care of transatlantic bonds.

“Please fasten your belts, enter the turbulence zone,” said the prime minister on Tuesday, starting a government meeting. “We meet in a special situation. We will make decisions that will require full solidarity of the state and ministries, “he said to the ministers. As he said, “days and weeks are coming, when it is absolutely necessary to suspend barren discussions, some considerable prestigious, coalition misunderstandings, because we will have to make decisions in some extraordinary mode.”

“Today a decision was announced to suspend American help for Ukraine and perhaps the start of releasing Russia from sanctions by the American side. We have no reason to think that these are just words. Reports that come from the border, from our hub in Jasionka, also confirm the announcements of the American side. This puts Europe, Ukraine and of course Poland in a more difficult situation, but we must meet this situation, “said the head of government.

He noted that in London at the summit on European security, including Ukraine, “the determination of the leaders of European countries and European institutions was unambiguous” and they agreed that “the task of Europe – and we are able to meet him – is to increase the defense possibilities of the EU and all of Europe as soon as possible, in strict coordination with NATO countries, such as Turkey or Norway, such as Türkiye or Norway, Cooperation with Canada. ” “This also applies to increasing expenses, investments and activities for the defense of the EU eastern border with Russia and Belarus,” he added.

He referred to the Plan of Europe’s Dziębrojewiękanie Europe presented by the chairman Ursula von der Leyen, which is to be subject to the decision of the Extraordinary Summit of the European Council on March 6. He drew attention to the “first package package”, which “speak of a fundamental return when it comes to financing possibilities of defense Europe and Member States.” As he said, it is about solutions, as during the Covid -19 pandemic, but on a larger scale – EUR 150 billion, which can be borrowed for defense and the defense industry, and loans would be guaranteed by the EU budget.

“What Poland was seeking was in this letter and will also be included in the conclusions. It is a matter of excessive deficit procedure. The point is that countries such as Poland, which decide to spend more money on defense, and therefore the deficit is increasing – they were not punished by European institutions, “he explained. He noted that funds from consistency can also be used for defense and arms industry.

According to the Prime Minister of the Ministry of National Defense, it should “radically accelerate” work on the draft act on special principles of preparation and investment in the field of state defense, and in a week the government may adopt a project that will facilitate and simplify such inSthations.

He emphasized that EU must combine two needs that “today look very difficult to connect.” It is – as he said about “maximum intensification of activities in Europe to increase his own defense capabilities and at the same time – contrary to all circumstances – attention to the best transatlantic relations and cooperation with our greatest ally – the United States.”

“Today, it becomes very important, at least for a certain species of people, also a moral and ethical dimension in politics,” added Tusk, according to which “pragmatism does not have to argue with decency.”

At night, the administration of Donald Trump announced the suspension of all military assistance for Ukraine, including arms transports, which were on their way to Ukraine, also through Poland.
