Chronicle of russia’s Bloodiest War Crimes in Ukraine in 2023
Unfortunately, russian aggression has affected not only Ukrainian militaries but also the civilian population. Despite the fact that the leaders of the terrorist state assure that russian troops strike only military facilities, civilian population as well as the environment of Ukraine continue to experience the consequences of russian aggression. Some of the consequences of this aggression may have a wider geography than the territory of Ukraine.
January 14 – russian missile hit an apartment building in Dnipro
A russian missile hit an apartment building in the city of Dnipro, causing the collapse of one of the entrances. russian occupiers attacked the city using Kh-22 cruise missile. That time the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that country had not had the means to shoot down such missiles. Search operations had been lasted for three days at the place of the tragedy. Mourning for the victims was declared in the city those days. Forty-six people were killed, including three children, and 80 people were injured as well.

April 28 – russian missile hit an apartment building in Uman
Two russian missiles hit the nine-storey building in the early morning, while the residents were sleeping in the city of Uman, Cherkasy Oblast. People were trapped under the rubble, so rescuers spent almost a whole day trying to save civilians. The tragedy killed 23 people, including six children.
June 6 – destruction of the Kakhovka Dam
One of russia’s most high-profile crimes in Ukraine is the blowing up of the Kakhovka Dam. Ukraine considers this not only as a war crime, but also an act of ecocide. At least 80 settlements dessapeared underwater, as well as 16,000 people were in the most dangerous area. Some people were sitting on the roofs of their houses, waiting for rescue or at least fresh water to quench thirst. The victims were saved not only by rescuers, but also by volunteers from different parts of the country. Animal rights activists pulled pets out of the water and provided them first aid. Even the Ukrainian militaries joined to help civilians. They sent drones with bottles of drinking water to houses where people were sitting on the roofs. Some people were also injured during the evacuation, as russia attacked the flooded part of Kherson. Thus, rescuers along with victims came under fire while they were trying to leave flooded areas. A few days later, neighboring regions felt the effects of the eco-disaster. Great waters carried furniture and appliances out to the shore of Odesa. At the same time the Black sea filled up with huge amount of freshwater. A massive fish pestilence was recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast as well as the Dnipro River became shallow in Zaporizhzhia.
June 27 – russian attack on a cafe in Kramatorsk
With the beginning of the full-scale war, Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast became a city tailored for the militaries. It is known, that the missile attack on the cafe took place due to spotter who sent the information to russian occupiers. 13 people were killed, including three children, as well as more than 60 were injured.
July 6 – russian missile hit an apartment building in Lviv
It was the largest attack on the civilian infrastructure of Lviv since the beginning of the russian invasion. More than 50 buildings were damaged, including houses, schools, and a dormitory as well. 10 people were killed as well as 48 wounded by russian missile strike.
August 7 – Missile attack on Pokrovsk
Two russian missiles attacked the center of Pokrovsk city, Donetsk Oblast. The first missile hit a residential building. Occupiers struck at one of the markets in Kostyantynivka, Donetsk Oblast damaging at least 27 outlets. The impact caused a fire that occupied area over 300 square meters. 17 people were killed and more than 30 were injured.
October 5 – missile attack on a cafe in the village of Groza
russians launched a missile attack on a cafe in the village of Groza, Kupyansk Raion, Kharkiv Oblast. Fellow villagers gathered in the cafe for a memorial dinner. They just buried a serviceman who was their fellow villager and then russians struck. 59 people died, including a child. 20 people among the dead were relatives of the buried serviceman that day. 330 people lived in the village in total, and almost every family had someone who died in the cafe.
October 21 – russian attack on a terminal of the Nova Poshta
The missile hit the terminal of the Nova Poshta postal and courier company, which is located at the entrance to Kharkiv. As a result, six workers were killed and at least 17 were injured as well. The workers did not have time to run to the shelter, because the alert went off a second before the missile strike.
December 29 – massive missile attack on Ukraine
The occupiers launched about 110 missiles on the territory of Ukraine. A number of the larges cities as well as small towns were affected.

A multi-storey building was hit in Odesa. Rescuers reported about dozens of injured and dead people.
Three people were killed and thirteen more wounded due to a massive rocket attack on Kharkiv as well. The city was shelled 22 times, from 5.00 to 8.00 a.m.
Invaders hit a shopping mall as well as a maternity hospital in Dnipro. Five people died as a result of the shelling. At least 20 people were also injured.
russia began full-scale war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Since then, the russians terrorists have been actively using aircraft and launching various missiles at peaceful cities of Ukraine, killing civilians. According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights 27,449 civilians were killed from February 24, 2022, till September 24, 2023 in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the civilian population of Ukraine continues to suffer from missile attacks by the russian federation.
