russia Boosts UMPB D-30SN Glide Bomb Production to 600 Units Monthly

russians have stepped up production of the UMPB D-30SN glide bomb, which has a range of 90 km. Despite the fact that the occupiers began to actively use it only in March 2024, we can see a rather rapid scale-up of its production.

This is evidenced by the serial numbers on the wreckage of these munitions published by a Telegram channel dedicated to the Ukrainian Air Force.

It is also noted that the production pace was rather slow at the beginning. In the winter, 110 units were produced, while in the spring, russia increased the pace to 161 units per month. In May-June, russians reached a rate of about 600 UMPB D-30SN glide bombs.

Taking into account that russian military industry can operate without the threat of attacks and without a shortage of resources, it is clear that more of these aircraft munitions are being produced. The rate of 600 units per month is about 20 per day. Even if the estimates are slightly exaggerated, we are still talking about scaling up russian production.

It should be noted that russian terrorists are actively using these UMPB D-30SN to attack Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia.

Compared to bombs with UMPK (unified gliding and correction module) kits, these D-30SN UMPBs can be dropped by russians from greater distances or used to hit more distant targets. The approximate difference between them in range is about 30 km. This makes countering the carriers of these bombs much more difficult.

It should be recalled that the UMPB D-30SN is a newly developed munition with an approximate weight of about 250 kg. Conceptually, it is similar to the American GBU-39/B SDB I, even with the idea of using it not only from aircraft but also from the 300mm Smerch multiple rocket launcher, similar to the GLSDB.

Some sources indicate that the aviation variant of the UMPB D-30SN has a jet engine or rocket booster that allows it to have this range. At the same time, its presense is still in question. After all, the American SDB can fly 90 kilometers without an engine.

It is also possible to note that the carriers of the UMPB D-30SN are not only Su-34, Su-30 or Su-35 frontline bombers, but also russian S-70 Okhotnik unmanned combat aerial vehicle.

Earlier War Ukraine-Russia News Hub reported that russian 500-kilogram bomb had struck residential area in Kharkiv region and embedded in ground.
