UK to Transfer 200 Brimstone Missiles, Revealing Unknown Facts About Their Use in Ukraine (Video)
The head of the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom, Grant Shapps, made this announcement during a session in the House of Commons of the British Parliament.
Shapps added that this type of missile had a significant impact on the battlefield before, causing russian forces to abandon and retreat in one case during an attempt to cross a river.

Possibly, it refers to a well-known attempt by the enemy to cross the Siverskyi Donets near the village of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, which resulted in a complete defeat for the russian federation in May 2022.
At least, it was during that time that the first confirmed information about the use of these British missiles by the Ukrainian Armed Forces appeared. However, there is no information about the use of Brimstone specifically in this episode.
In Britain, they showed the transportation of Brimstone missiles that will be transferred to Ukraine.
Moreover, while the quantity of 200 units may seem not very significant, we are talking about truly effective missiles designed for enemy armored vehicle destruction and capable of being launched from a ground-based launcher.
It is known that Ukraine will receive the latest version of these missiles – Brimstone 2 Dual Mode.
The Brimstone 2 Dual Mode has a larger firing range, upgraded warhead and guidance system compared to the original version of the missile. While the standard Brimstone flies up to 12 km when launched from a helicopter and 20 km from a jet, the second generation has a range of 40 and 60 km respectively.
Another important distinct feature of the Brimstone 2 is the combined guidance system: a standard radar homing head able to determine the ground-stationed targets and a classic semi-active laser seeker.
The former allows the system to operate in a “fire-and-forget” mode, while the missiles can exchange information so that two of them do not attack the same target. The latter provides for additional options, such as guidance by a UAV with a laser designator.
Grant Shapps also announced that, in collaboration with its NATO allies, the Great Britain will train 10 thousand Ukrainian soldiers in the first half of 2024.
