Ukrainian Commander Named the russia Losses in Avdiivka Sector in 4 Months

These numbers were announced by the commander of the Tavria Operational Strategic Group, Alexander Tarnavskyi.

“On the Avdiivka direction, with their bravery, resilience, and heroism, Ukrainian defenders inflicted huge losses on the enemy and destroyed a significant reserve of Russian occupiers, which they planned to use in other areas of the front for offensive actions,” wrote Tarnavskyi.

The enemy’s losses during the active phase of the Avdiivka defensive operation (from October 10, 2023, to February 17, 2024) amounted to:

  • Personnel: 47,186 individuals;
  • Tanks: 364;
  • Artillery systems: 248;
  • Combat armored vehicles: 748;
  • Aircraft: 5.

“Thank you to every soldier for their resilience, bravery, and heroism. For every destroyed occupier. For every burned tank and armored vehicle,” Tarnavskyi added.

Battles for Avdiivka

The Russian army began an offensive on Avdiivka at the beginning of October. According to British intelligence, Avdiivka remains the main direction for Russia on the front line.

Later, the Third Assault Brigade confirmed they were redeployed to the Avdiivka area to reinforce the Ukrainian defense. Defenders showed footage from the city and noted that the battles on this front were more challenging than those in Bakhmut.

Yesterday, February 16, the commander of Tavria Operational Strategic Group, Alexander Tarnavskyi announced the decision to withdraw from the position Zenit on the southeastern outskirts of Avdiivka. Later, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that our soldiers had left the city to avoid being surrounded by the enemy.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the decision to withdraw the military was fair and professional.

According to NATO Military Committee Chairman Rob Bauer, Avdiivka is not a significant loss, as the enemy destroyed all the city’s infrastructure.
